Streaming Media
What's Streaming Media?
Streaming Media is the name given to the process of sending a
continuous flow of video or sound (or both) to someone on the
internet. In it's simplest form, it can be described as either
'watching TV' or 'listening to a radio broadcast' over the internet.
What's involved?
There are a number of factors to consider when you're planning
streaming media over the internet. First, you have to consider
how many people are likely to want to view or listen at once -
which determines the number of streams you need to rent. Next,
you need to consider how much information is going to be sent
down each stream, and how quickly - which determines the
bandwidth requirements for each of the streams you're renting.
These are important calculations because the total cost every
month will depend on how many people have used the streams
you're providing.
