DSNs for Microsoft Access databases
What's a DSN?
DSN stands for "Data Source Name" - it's a way of allowing a web site's
scripts to use a Microsoft Access database file without the database file
having to be kept somewhere inside the web site itself. And each DSN can
be accessed from any of your sites, too.
It's a great way of making your data more secure, because the database
file can't be accessed from the web site. It's also a good way of using
the same database file from more than one of your web sites.
Most script languages (e.g. ASP VBscript, Javascript, Perl, etc) make it
much easier to use DSNs than to access database files the long way around.
It's a real time saver.
