Secured Sites & Directories
What's a Secured Directory?
When you want to password-protect a web site (or even just an area of a
web site) you'll need to have a name and password assigned to it.
If it's a whole site you're securing, that's a Secured Site - but if
it's just a sub-directory you're protecting, that's a Secured Directory.
To make life easier, we'll call them all 'Secured Directories' - not to
be confused with SSL sites
(sometimes called 'Secure Sites').
It's a great way of setting up a secure administration section in your
web site, and is often used in conjunction with
SSL Encryption to provide a
totally secure environment for online data.
And they're simple to set up. Once you've got a web site that's hosted
on our web servers, just tell us the name of the directory (or web site)
to be secured and our systems will send you a new user name and password.
After that, nobody will be able to access that directory (and any files
and sub-directories it contains) without the right user name and password.
