SSL Security for web sites and pages
What's SSL security?
SSL stands for 'Secured Sockets Layer', and it means that your information
can be transferred securely between your web site and a visitor's web browser.
Why bother?
Normally, when a web page is sent to a visitor's browser, it is sent 'as is'
without any particular security. The same applies when the visitor types
in information to be sent back to your web site. That's normally fine
for contact details and the like - but if the data you want is sensitive
(credit card details, for example!) then you'd need to encrypt that information...
and that's what SSL does.
How do I set it up?
It's easy - we handle all of the technical configuration, administration
and paper work for you. All you need to tell us is which web site name you
want to secure. Within two weeks (usually) you'll have a working "https://"
web site in your account space, ready for you to use.
We also have a 'Shared SSL' service which uses the same technology but
your scripts and pages will be sharing a secured site with other
Just Space customers. It's fully secured so that others can't access your
area (and vice-versa) - although understandably many of our clients
prefer to have their own secured site to themselves.
